Why I started the Handstand Academy?
I started the Handstand Academy because it represents my three passions – gymnastics, strength training and yoga.
I have seen a lot of people wanting to learn how to do a handstand and not a lot of options for learning them. These are the people that I am most passionate about working with.
Intense core training benefits many different types of athletes and improves performance and abilities in many different disciplines. Learning a handstand is just the icing on the cake!
Why Start a Handstand Practice?
“Performing a handstand will not change your life, but learning to do one might.” Physically and emotionally, the training will challenge you.
Doing the work required to master a handstand cultivates many of the qualities we need to become successful within our lives. By learning how to face fears and overcome challenges, we create change within the body. The key to unlocking potential is to find the missing elements needed to succeed.
A press handstand represents a beautiful marriage between strength and flexibility, balance, grit and grace. It significantly improves core strength and power, reduces chronic pain, and provides a solid foundation for your fitness goals. Not to mention … It’s super fun!

While not every pose will be accessible for everybody, every single person can find a way to work that builds more strength. I will never tell you a story about what you can’t do. I am here to tell you a story of what is possible if you believe in yourself and have enough faith to get on your mat and put in the work. It doesn’t matter if you succeed at the pose, but it does matter how you try. The effort of trying will teach you valuable life lessons that can transform every aspect of your life.

Level One – Introduction to Handstand
Have you ever wanted to try a handstand but had no idea where to begin? Too scared to try? Join me in “Introduction to Handstand” where I will teach you everything you need to know to begin your handstand journey.
In this 90 minute workshop, you will learn to build a strong foundation for a handstand, what proper alignment is and how to safely enter and exit the handstand. You will practice progressions and drills that you can use at home to improve your handstand.
No handstand experience necessary. All levels welcome.
I will be teaching at various yoga/fitness studios throughout the city and monthly at Pegasus Gymnastics Club.

Level Two – Journey to Handstand
Do you want a supportive space and soft landings to practise your handstand? Learn how to move your handstand away from the wall and explore what else you can do while standing on your hands!
In this three week session, we will be doing a full body workout designed to develop and condition the muscles you need to stand on your hands! We will spend lots of time upside down exploring different handstand progressions and drills. The goal of this session is to make you strong enough to hold a handstand for 30 seconds.
Prerequisites:
Must be able to perform a handstand or have attended Intro to Handstand.
You must purchase annual AGF insurance in order to participate $65.00.
You must download and complete The Pegasus Gymnastics Waiver.
Upcoming Level Two Handstand Dates:
Fridays 9:30 – 10:45 and Tuesdays 12:05 – 1:15pm
Friday 9:30 am Class Dates: March 13th, March 20th, March 27th, April 3rd
Tuesday 12:05 Class Dates: March 10th, March 17th, March 24th, March 31st
Cost is $100 for 4 classes or $30 Drop In
(You may drop in once only without insurance)
Classes will be taught at Pegasus Gymnastics Centre.
Level Three – Master the Handstand
Do you want a safe place to explore what you can do with your handstand and improve your core strength and power? Have you reached a plateau in your yoga practice or fitness training?
This 5 week full-body conditioning program is designed to activate, strengthen and open the muscles required for a more advanced handstand practice.
You will learn the three stages of a handstand, with progressions and drills to take your handstand to the next level.
You will be given an at home conditioning program to help you progress faster.
Prerequisites:
Must be able to hold a handstand against a wall for 20 seconds
You must purchase annual AGF insurance in order to participate $65.00
You must download and complete The Pegasus Gymnastics Waiver
